Tony Gunawan

Tony Gunawan is a former Olympic medalist and world champion for Indonesia who now represents the United States for playing badminton. He played for Indonesia from 1992 to 2001, winning many international titles. He coached and played for USA since 2001. In 2000, he won a gold medal in men's doubles at the Olympic Games in Sydney. In 2001, he won a gold for Indonesia at the World Championships in Spain. In 2005, Gunawan and his partner Howard Bach won the men's doubles title at the World Badminton Championship while representing the United States. Gunawan reunited with Bach to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games in London after he obtained his citizenship in 2011. Gunawan was born on April 9, 1975 and he is Indonesian-born of Chinese descent.
